Capizzi Jr. & LeChase high Qualifiers at Rochester USBC Masters

 

Sam Capizzi Jr. and Ray LeChase II each totaled 1,153 pins for five games Saturday to lead qualifiers in the 26th annual Rochester USBC Bowling Association Masters ChampionshipTournament at AMF Dewey Garden Lanes. Capizzi, who had games of 224, 244, 254, 236 and 195, earned the top top seed by virtue of his higher game. Rounding out the top five were Deric Houppert (1,108), Robert Wiley (1,106) and Mike Rose Jr. (1,099).

The top 12 qualifiers will return to Dewey Sunday at 10 a.m. for 12 games of match play, including a final position-round game. The top five after 12 games will compete in a stepladder-finals format to determine a champion.

Also qualifying were recent 700 Club champion Pat Donaghue, Ryan Kretchmer, Brian O'Mara, Russ Vallone, Dan Vick, Mark McClain and Bill Hasiotis.

A total of 57 bowlers competed. Kretchmer had the high game with an 11-in-a-row 290 in Game 5.  There were three 700 series bowled. Houppert had a 727 Capizzi a 722 and Donaghue a 719.

The stepladder finals are expected to go off between 3 and 3:30 p.m on Sunday December 6th.
